Dalarna is the name of our county and it means "the valleys".
There are two main valleys with rivers and here you can see
the eastern river with an old floating bridge.

A milestone. A swedish mile was until 1889 10689 meters.
Milestones were made of wood, stone or iron.

A short brake and a quick beer after eating for 2 hours.

And so a hefty termination of the dinner;
rice porridge with cinnamon and milk, root beer and wormwood schnapps.

This is my friend and fellow major who has been our mess director
for 28 years. Now he was honored with a portrait that we, despite
his modest protests, have decided to hang in a prominent place in the mess

A long, companionable evening with songs, tales, laughter and
serious conversations. Sometimes the mood has led me to
hold impromptu speeches about safety and security in comradeship.

The next day, after having spent the night in the barracks,
I help the mess director to tidy up the mess.
